Could Julia be ANY sweeter? She is the most easy-going, loving, happy little girl and I just cannot get enough of her. Every day she wakes up with the biggest smile. She still loves a good game of peek-a-boo and screams with delight when you chase her. The best game of chase: Before bath, I'll strip her down and let her run wild. There is nothing better than seeing her teeny, naked, little hiney run through the hall and bedrooms. Well, nothing better except when her brother strips down and chases her and I sit back and smile at my two 'nakey' babies running around in delight after one another. Does it get any sweeter?
Julia will be playing and then all of a sudden rush over to you for a hug and rest her head against you. Or she will randomly lay down on a plush blanket, pillow or stuffed animal to snuggle. Does it get any sweeter?
She's always waving "hi" and "bye" and has those words down. On New Year's Eve, we went out for dinner - Elevation Burger; yes, we're fancy ;) - and we joked that she was their greeter. Waving to everyone. As soon as Frank & I put our jackets on each morning, she's waving and saying "bye bye" to us. Does it get any sweeter?
At one year old, Julia has 8 (!) teeth and eats like a champ. She loves pretty much everything - except milk from a cup. We'll get there. She started full-fledged walking around 11.5 months. There was no "cruising" for her - just straight up walking. And sister is fast.
Miss Julia is most certainly a Garone. She's got quite the temper (try taking something away from her) and is already getting her brother into trouble by crying wolf. (Although most of the time, it's warranted.)
A few other "Julia-isms" that I want to remember forever:
- Says "boo". As in peek-a-boo. Although it doesn't always accompany the game. It's just her favorite word. Sitting, eating breakfast: "boo!" Walking: "boo!" Playing with her toys and then looks up at you, "boo!"
- Another favorite word: "uh-oh". Like when she
dropsthrows her food or cup on the floor. Or when her stuffed animal falls. - Pulls her hair (or your hair) when she's tired.
- Loves, I mean loves picking at fuzzies. Her favorite past time in the morning when she wakes up is picking fuzzies off her blankets or pajamas in her crib.
- She's also quite fond of picking things up off of the floor. Like tiny little pieces of fuzz, dirt or food. It's like she's my little vacuum. And luckily most of the time she either brings me the little treasures or puts them in the garbage herself.
- Mimics. "Julia, let's wash your hands." And she rubs her hands together. As we get ready to walk out the door, she runs to get her shoes and tries to put them on. When we play kitchen, she pretends to eat the food (even with the fake chomping noise) just like Mommy and Frankie.
- Loves hiding things in our cabinets. I find shoes, toys, crayons, etc in our kitchen cabinets. One afternoon, I'd thought I'd lost my mind when I couldn't find one of her shoes, but there it was - in our tupperware drawer. I also find them on our pantry shelves. When in doubt, check the kitchen cabinets.
- Is all about socks. For whatever reason, she loves socks - any socks - and carries them around with her. Before bathtime, picture her naked hiney running around, carrying socks. And getting in trouble for stealing her brothers.
- Accessorizes. We have "treasure beads" from a pirate birthday party that she is always putting around her neck. The first time she did this, I found it fascinating that she knew where they went. She will take disks from one of Frankie's games and put them on her wrists like bracelets. And she carries her baby purse around - with her cell phone, credit card - and bacon. LOL I always find some of their play food in there, too.
One whole year old - and our lives are just that much sweeter with her in them. Happy First Birthday, Julia Marie. Mommy & Daddy love you with all of our hearts!
