Babies are pretty amazing creations. It's incredible to think that in a mere 4 months, Julia has gone from only sleeping, eating and pooping to actually learning basic developmental functions. Her teeny tiny little hands now open and shut and sometimes she will stare at them in amazement as she practices this skill. They've gone from staying closed-fisted to constantly grabbing and playing with toys - Or in her mouth! When she sits on my lap at dinner, I have to really watch her to keep her from pulling my plate into both of our laps. She's discovered her toes and loves grabbing for them and is so proud that she can get them into her mouth. Just recently she's started doing "crunches", where she tries oh-so hard to pull herself up. She loves sitting up and taking in the views but is also still fond of laying on her back and playing on her playmat. Her big smile lights up the room, but I haven't quite gotten a laugh out of her yet. I can tell it's right there on the tip of her tongue, but no laughter yet. She does have quite a voice, though, still squealing with joy in the mornings when she wakes up - or screeching for attention when I'm in another room or playing with big brother. Speaking of big brother, Julia adores Frankie and I LOVE watching her watch him. She gives him great, big smiles and eats up his attention. She's already vying for his toys, too. She reaches for his legos and Matchbox cars and usually he's a good sport about sharing. In only 4 months, she's learned just so much. Incredible.
Julia's schedule at this point is, at least, partially predictable, eating about every three hours during the day and squeezing in about three naps - usually in her co-sleeper unless we're out and about. On Mother's Day, she surprised me with a 3.5 hour nap! Her night sleeping is great, too - waking up 1-2 times. Totally manageable, but I'm a much bigger fan of the one-time-wake-up nights! She's able to put herself to sleep which is a HUGE difference between her and Frankie. It really makes life so much easier. I'm not sure if that's because she's a relatively easier baby or because I have more of a clue this time around!
Julia's 4 month stats:
Height: 24.5" (62%)
Weight: 12 lbs 12 oz (32%)
Head: 16" (42%)
I was a little worried when I saw she was only in the 32nd percentile for weight but her doctor was happy with her weight gain and predicts her to be more petite. She assured me that I have nothing to worry about. I'm just comparing her to Frankie, who was over 16 pounds at his 4 month doctor visit! Julia is still getting the adorable chubby legs and is nutritionally healthy! We're waiting until 6 months to start solids, which is hard to believe is right around the corner.

| I love how she sleeps with her hands clasped over her eyes. |
